removing background from transparent items

I have a few dozen product images I have to remove the backgrounds from, and though most of the items I have to isolate are solid and require only the use of the background eraser, there are several images with transparent items on a gray background. Is there any way to remove the gray background so that the resulting transparent item looks to be on a white backgground?

"How do I get rid of the background in my picture?". Unfortunately there is no single simple answer... there are a number of approaches you can take. The one you choose has a lot to do with your software, the particular image you're using, final output (print or electronic), and the desired end result.Or do what shadab suggested.^^_

I never knew there was a plugin to help remove backgrounds. I could have made could use of that back when I was doing a lot of product images. Instead I had to play with brightness/contrast to reduce the bg while trying to keep the colors of the actual product accurate.
