I guess what you are referring to is a semi-automated program. This IMO is a better option than using a program that automates the whole process. You get to choose which directory to submit to and to what category you would be submitting your site.

autosubmiting is tottall trash. everyone knows that unique content is a way to success to adding nearly the same phrases to 10 000 directories wont bring too much.
