Talking Starting a forum

Hi people,
Its been long since I have posted.Partly due to EXAMS and partly due to my lack of time xD. Anyways, here is my first post after a long time.Coming to the point.

Forums are a hard thing to manage especially when they are new.You dont get many members and you lose the passion. So passion is the thing required and also love for your forum.Whenever you feel like losing out , just remember that "PATIENCE IS THE VIRTUE"
  • The first and foremost thing for a forum to be successful is the ADMINISTRATOR(S) to be hyper-active.
  • Gather some information on the niche your prospective forum would be.
  • Try to be familiar with the forum software you use because you dont want to be caught up in a weird situation when you start losing your forum's reputation and image.
  • A house made up of bricks comes live with good interior deigning and painting xD. Similarly a good theme for your forum software would be of great value.
  • When you start a new community, post some useful information and ask your friends to come up and join you.
  • Make sure the STAFF members you choose are respected in the community. There is no need to choose a moderator when you have only 3 members.
  • Competitions, contests, new ideas make a forum much active.
  • At last but not the least, Respect your forum members and listen to them and their suggestions.
That's it.
Thanks for your time,
Swastik Agrawal

I agree with you! Forum takes a lot of time and effort to build and get going. But it can be so rewarding if you see your forum filled with like 10,000 members!

Yes. Thats a very important aspect of running a Forum.
You got to show respect to all the members. (normal members, mods, etc.)

In my opinion, every Forum should have a feedback/suggestions section,
so that the Forum administrator/management can get to know what the users want / feel.

Of course I will.

Btw, GeekPoint wouldn't have been a reality
if it wasn't for the staff members' hard work.

Yes take care when choosing the type of forum script or software that will be used. The forum should be easy to access, easy to use, and come with "visitor- friendly" features. All visitors should be made to feel welcomed and find the navigability of the forum, user friendly.

What sort of forum will be wanting,

You can go with a few forums,

Just google, PHPBB or SMF and those two i like.

I find them easy. There are so many more, with simple Installs.

This are the hardest things to manage in a forum. Based on my experience an inactive admin makes the forum inactive. Competitions and contests also hard to manage because this will costs money or something valuable that will be purchased by the forum admin but it is still costs money.
