MyBB Brief Review

This is a very brief review, I'll soon post a more in-depth review in my blog but for now here it goes:

Compared to SMF & phpBB MyBB is definitely lacking themes/modifications. However it's still just as powerful and has a great template system as well as plugin system. You can also create custom mycode which is quite useful if you know some HTML.

As far as support goes, there are numerous MyBB sites in various languages and there's even sites dedicated to just themes and plugins so it's only a matter of time until it eventually matches up to these other free forum systems. The official site is very useful and the people there are quite friendly for the most part, and I liked it a lot more than the SMF/phpBB site (haven't used them in a while though).

Overall MyBB is definitely worth a try, and now that it's gone Open Source you can expect to see further developments. If you're looking to create a heavily modded forum and can't code yourself, then MyBB is probably not for you, and if you're looking for a really light forum script then perhaps something like BBPress might be best suited but if you just want to try something else besides SMF or phpBB mYBB is definitely worth a shot. I've used it on several forums and have been satisfied with it.

Yeah 1.4 is amazing, and the best part about it is probably the Admin CP & Mod CP.

I just started using it and it's a very good forum software, I've mostly been using SMF for awhile now but decided to try something else for a change so far a+. True themes and plugins are not as much as SMF and PHPBB3 but give it some time for the community to create more and more for it.

Yeah within the next year or so I expect it to catch up more, but in terms of core features it's already up there.

i'm also using MYBB. i've find each and every thing in MYBB which i was wanted in my forum, then why would i spend money on paid scripts
