About GeekPoint

GeekPoint was founded on 25th August 2007 as a general Geek/Computer Forum. It wasn't until December 07 that we could see some activity in the Forums. Around November-December we started offering free web hosting to active Forum members (ie, on a post-to-host basis). It worked fine for a couple of months, but being a new Forum it was a bit hard to monetize or find sponsors; and it wasn't feasible anymore to maintain multiple resellers to provide Free Hosting. So, unfotunately in June 2008, we had to stop offering this Service.

The Forum's main topic was then narrowed down from general Computer/Internet related talk to Webmaster related topics. Now, an year since then, and seeing phases of inactivity as well as hyper-activity, we felt the need to restructure the Forum and organize the website as a whole; so as to give it a clean and consistent look and make it easier for the end-users to navigate the different sections of GeekPoint.

The new Forum structure reflects the Four broad stages of making a website. • Designing • Implementation • Maintenance • Marketing & Promotion. Here in GeekPoint we are more focussed on the Implementation part. Along with a new theme and revised structure, two new sections were introduced:

  1. Development Services: To offer commercial web development services. Which includes: xHTML/CSS Coding from scratch, Website Recoding, PHP/MySQL driven pages (optionally using a MVC framework); vBulletin Forum installation, customisation and template coding.
  2. Articles & Reference: A section dedicated to articles, reference pages and cheat-sheets for HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, Oracle and the basics of .NET
