We've tried to keep all the rules and regulations simple and worded them in such a way that everyone can understand them easily. But if you need to get clarifications or ask questions regarding any rule, feel free to Contact Us or open a thread in the 'Suggestions & Feedback' Forum. We are more than willing to help you.
General Rules
- No spamming, please! That's the thing we hate the most.
- Don't post/send any message that is obscene, vulgar, hateful, threatening or otherwise violative of any laws.
- Any racist or sexist comment will not be tolerated.
- Don't post any content that would flame other user's topics or create a war like environment in the Forum.
- Posting or linking to illegal content (warez, pirated softwares, nulled scripts, license keys, keygens, etc.), porn, and/or anything that can harm a user's computer (virus, trojan, spyware, etc.) is prohibited.
- Create threads in appropriate forum/sub-forum. If in any doubt, read the category and forum descriptions; we've tried to make them very clear, and easy to understand.
- A maximum of ONE forum account per user is allowed. If you forgot your password, you can reset it via this page: Password Recovery Form. If your Forum account has been hacked into, please Contact Us via EMail.
- We don't mind if you resurrect old threads. As long you've posted something constructive or valuable, we're fine with it. But please refrain from bumping your threads within 24 hours of the last post in it. Also, don't just post 'bump', 'anybody?', 'help!' or anything similar. Instead, 'add' something to the thread which would entice other users to reply.
- Don't act like a moderator if you are not. (Backseat Moderation). If a user has violated any forum rule or guideline; and if you really need to point it out, please do so in a polite manner.
- But we'd prefer that the 'Report Post'
link
present in the top-right of each thread/post be used, to report offensive / spammy posts. We may or may not make a 'reply'
regarding the report, but be assured that all reports are dealt with, by the Forum Staff in a timely fashion;
and the identity of the user who reported is never divulged in public.
Account Restrictions
Signature
At least 10 forum posts are required before you can have a signature. Also, a signature is restricted to: A maximum of 3 lines of text and a normal Font Size of 11px. Basic BBCodes like: [B], [I], [U], Text Alignment, [COLOR] and [URL] are allowed.
Links in Posts
At least 10 forum posts are required before you can create a 'live' (clickable) hyperlink in your post. Before that, the URLs will simply display like plain text (http://www.geekpoint.net/).
Private Messages
Again, at least 10 posts are required before you can use the 'Private Messaging' system to contact a user on GeekPoint privately. The 'Visitor Messaging' system is available for every registered member, though; and can be found on the user's profile.
Referral Links
You are NOT allowed to post affiliate or referral links, be it masked (eg, via TinyURL) or unmasked, except in: (i) Your signature, and (ii) Buy/Sell/Trade Forum (excluding the Freebies section).
Advertising & Solicitation
The only place where you are allowed to advertise and create threads about your products, services, items is the 'Buy / Sell / Trade' (BST) Forum. The BST Forum has some additional rules and regulations outlines below:
BST Forum Rules
- Trading of Physical Goods is not permitted. Only intangible items and services can be advertised.
- Post the full description of the item you are selling. No one-liner posts, please!
- If you are selling 'only' the domain name, list in in the 'Domains' sub-forum. But if you want to sell the domain name along with the content/script of the website, then list it in the 'Websites' sub-forum of BST.
- Websites posted for sale should not have Adult content, Porn or Warez as the main theme. When the need arises, we will create a separate section for such sales too.
- Freebies section shall be used only for items and services that are absolutely FREE, no strings attached.
- 'Selling' anything that is actually FREE, is prohibited.
- Buying or selling illegal items (including, but not limited to Phished accounts, EMail Addresses, Hacked accounts, etc.) is prohibited.
- Webhosting sales threads that offer 'Unlimited' space and/or bandwidth are NOT allowed. Unlimited hard disk space and network bandwidth simply doesn't exist.
iTrader Rules
- iTrader can only be given for threads created in the Buy / Sell / Trade Forum and all it's sub-forums (except the 'Free Services/Items' sub-forum).
- Abuse of the iTrader system will get you an infraction. And repeat offenders will not be allowed to post in the BST or may even have their accounts suspended.
- Asking for iTraders from a user; when you didn't have a deal or transaction with that user ON GeekPoint, will count as an abuse of the iTrader system.
All kinds of Transactions / Transfers are based upon the trust between thread starter and poster. GeekPoint can NOT be held responsible for any frauds what so ever. But in case of a fraud, we can help you track the fraud user; if substantial amount of evidence is found against the alleged fraud user.
Posting Guidelines
- Do not use ALL CAPS to write your whole post. Writing in all caps is considered shouting, which is rather impolite.
- The same stands for text formatting options like Bold, Italics, Underline, Size, etc. You don't have to post your whole reply as bold text, for example.
- Use a good descriptive Title for your Topic. Vague thread Titles like "Help !", "See this", "Important" etc. are not suggested. A moderator or administrator may reword / change your thread title to better reflect the post content.
- You are not suggested to use colors that would make the post unreadable or make the reader blind. :P
- The primary language of GeekPoint Forum is English. You should post all your messages / replies in English ONLY. If you post your message in any other language, please provide a valid English translation too.
- Don't bash or badmouth a user just because he made a mistake. Be polite in all your conducts.
- Don't post a reply to someone, that you wouldn't say if you were talking face to face.
