1. Ignoring Basic Search Engine Guidelines
2. Not Having a Keywords Strategy
3. Ignoring the title tags (H1, H2, H3, H4…)
4. Too much focus on one of the optimization elements
5. SEO is Not a One Time Process

Concentrating too much on meta tags: A lot of people seem to think SEO is about getting your meta keywords and description correct! In fact, meta tags are becoming (if not already) a thing of the past. You can create your meta keywords and descriptions but don't except to rank well only because of this.
