1. If you already know lots of people on other social media sites like MySpace or Facebook, all you have to do is tell all of your friends on those sites to start following you on Twitter. (this is step no. 1 to getting more Twitter followers)... You can also send out emails to all your friends on an email list if you have one.
2. You can also follow people who have a large following that are in your industry. This is because Twitter is a great way to build brand awareness for your business and your company. If you want to have 2 separate accounts, one for business and one for pleasure you can do so. It costs you nothing to have a Twitter account, just a valid email address.
It's not just about following a lot of people, it's more about WHO you follow.
3. Be very active on Twitter. It's social media so be social. Send @replies to your friends on Twitter, which is basically like talking to them. You type @ and the person's username like this: @stella and then say something in response to something they tweeted.
The @reply can also be seen by all of their Twitter followers, even people who aren't following you... this is why it's so important to interact with people who have lots of followers.
People see you talking to someone important who has a lot of followers, they'll click on your profile just to see who you are and what you're up to. It's a good idea to keep your following to follower ratio pretty even. For example, if you have 1,000 followers then you should at least be following around 750 - 1000 people back. |
