Her are a few on-page techniques:
1) Include your keyword or keyword phrase in your title
2) Include your keyword or keyword phrase in your description
3) Include your keyword or keyword phrase in your keywords
4) Include your keyword or keyword phrase in your content – early, in the middle, and at the end.

Those tips about On-Page Optimization will give higher possibility of getting to your desired ranking and higher PR value.. But On-Page Optimization isn't enough, you also have to do the Off-Page Optimization to build back links so that people (site owners) will know about your site..

Nice to get so much information about Onpage topic. I would like to add just one thing: your onpage seo should be targeted at Search engine and users and not for the search engine solely.

having site map can useful to steer through ur site for visitors as well as GOOGLE Sitemap helps google crawl the deep pages easily..its recommended for all to apply!!!!

Yes, when the search engine spiders come to visit, they will follow all of the text links from your main index page.
If one of those links is to a site map, then the spiders will go right to the sitemap, and consequently visit every page you have text linked to from that site map. On the site map page, try to have a sentence or two describing each page, and not just a page of links.
