Now a days Internet marketing is growing faster than before.I think SEO will surely take an important place in coming years. Agree that its a challenging job. There are two main part of SEO, one is On page optimization and other is Off page optimization.

But i am confused which one is more vital to optimize a web page?

Both should go together! On-Page Optimization talks about the proper use of your description, meta tags, keywords and title tags. After doing the On-Page Optimization, the next step is building links and thats the role of Off-Page Optimization!

Building links like article and directory submissions, social bookmarking, blog commenting, classified ads, forum posting, link exchange, and press releases falls under this category. Both On-Page and Off-Page can't go without each other!.

You'll get better and best results if you participate on types.

Both are important. You cannot give any one the full advantage that doing only On page optimization, your site ranks higher and only off page cannot collaborate to higher the ranks in search engines as well.. both are mandatory to get good ranks in Search engines.

Are you asking about "on site" or "on page". There is only so much you can do to optimize a single page. You should look at the site as a whole and think about what your doing.

In the case of "on page" or "off page" - on page would be more important to me. Mainly because I spend almost 0 time promoting a single page.
