Ever thought of using your PC as a server ? - 01-18-2008

Have you ever thought of, or even used your computer as a live webhost ?

I once tried setting up a live webhost on my own computer,
(when i didn't know much about webhosting and servers).

It all didn't quite go well. So i abandoned the idea.

Now when I think again of what i tried to do earlier, i laugh at it !

What about you ?

The moment you start your WAMP local server,
it goes 'online'.

Meaning anybody that knows your IP can access your web server.
http://your.ip.address.here/

Now parking a domain to your computer is a bit difficult. And its even more difficult if you have a dynamic IP. (Because your IP address changes every time you connect / disconnect from the internet)

IP address is not problem. I know how to set it with dynamic IP.

Thanks.
