Affected by Fire at ThePlanet DC ? - 06-02-2008

A fire broke out at ThePlanet's H1 data center in Houston, Texas on Saturday.

It was because of a fault in a transformer. No servers have been damaged so far.
Though because of the power outage, about 9000 servers (7500 customers) were affected.

Their staff is posting regular updates at their Forum :

Onsite technicians are currently working to restore service to the remaining 10% of Phase 2 upstairs servers.
The Phase 1 downstairs servers are expected to start coming online late this evening.
Hostagator has it's servers from ThePlanet, so I was kinda worried too.
I guess fortunately they have not been affected.

Have you faced any inconvenience due to all this ?

Yep. DP has been having this DB problem for months.
And the situation doesn't seem to improve...

Btw, I hope ThePlanet get's those servers back online soon.

Nope, never faced any login problems.

It's just that sometimes pages take forever to load.
(some just load halfway and then freeze)

weird. I have tried it in both Firefox and IE, but I frequently have to try 5 or 6(or more) times to get it to login. Usually it only works after I goto a thread as opposed to the main login/index page. It will bring me to the "thanks for logging in. click here if..." screen but then it just directs me back to where I was without logging me in...
