I like the hover effects (green/black background) for the nav links.

You may try converting the site from a WP to some other platform.
(a more dedicated CMS or Article system, than WordPress)

To obtain clicks on advertisements, you need to write articles and incorporate the affiliates in the articles.

An example:

For CMMS, since many do not know what CMMS is, I will write an article explaining what CMMS is
and give examples using CMMS affiliates and information from the providers of CMMS software.

This way I will promote the CMMS affiliate and hope some will need and buy from the affiliate.

By the way: CMMS means Computer Maintenance Management System
